Salto da Farinha Viewpoint
Viewpoint in Salga with views of the north coast and Nordeste mountains, beside an iron-rich waterfall that drops more than 40 metres in height.
About this place
Salto da Farinha Viewpoint overlooks the deeply cut stream valley and the approximately 40-metre waterfall that defines this part of Nordeste's coast. Its name recalls the former importance of cereal milling in the area. From the viewing area, visitors can see how water crosses the green hillside before reaching the coastal strip, bringing volcanic relief, vegetation and the Atlantic into a single compact landscape.
The Padrão, Alminhas and Salto da Farinha walking route passes through this scenery and continues towards a pebble beach that may show areas of sand at certain times, as well as Ribeira das Coelhas. Visibility and waterfall flow vary with rainfall and seasonal conditions. Visitors should follow signs, keep away from unsafe cliff edges and check the state of roads and trails before travelling.
