Azores: Sea and Fire

Coliseu Micaelense hosts the eighth edition of Açores, Terra de Mar & Fogo in Ponta Delgada on 11 October 2026 at 5 pm. The symphonic performance draws on traditional music from the Azores’ nine islands.

Four musical episodes take the discovery of the Azores as their theme. Songs from the islands’ traditional repertoire provide the inspiration for this musical approach to the archipelago’s history.

The 2026 edition also marks 50 years of Azorean regional autonomy. That anniversary gives added context to a performance that brings musical references from across the archipelago to the Coliseu Micaelense stage.

Doors open at 4 pm. The advertised running time is 90 minutes, with a 15-minute interval, and tickets cost between €10 and €18.
