The 62nd Ponta Delgada City Saint Silvester Race takes place on 12 December 2026, starting and gathering at Portas da Cidade in Praça Gonçalo Velho Cabral. Part of São Miguel’s athletics calendar, the event welcomes both affiliated and non-affiliated participants.
The programme begins at 6:30 pm with a 1.3-kilometre mini-race for Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 age groups, as well as adapted sport participants. The main 6.2-kilometre race starts at 7:00 pm for the remaining categories.
A 4-kilometre walk also leaves at 7:00 pm, following behind the main race. It offers residents and visitors a more accessible way to join the evening without taking part in the competitive race.
Running from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm, the event is held in the context of the Associação de Atletismo de São Miguel’s activities. Its long-standing sporting tradition brings runners, families and spectators together in Ponta Delgada’s historic waterfront centre.
