Leopoldina Beach

Leopoldina Beach is a small coastal place in Vila Franca do Campo municipality, reached on foot from the Ribeira Seca area. The approach and landscape include old watermills, reminders of the historic use of local streams. The beach retains a natural, isolated character, and its usable shore depends on the tide and sea conditions.

This is not an urban beach and visitors should not assume the presence of a bar, changing rooms, lifeguards or other permanent services. The path may include uneven ground, vegetation and wet sections, so firm footwear and a check of weather conditions are advisable before descending. Respect private property, gates and signs and keep away from unstable cliffs. If no lifeguard is present, do not enter the water in swell or whenever currents are uncertain. Carry drinking water and remove all waste after the visit.
