Vinha da Areia Beach

Vinha da Areia Beach is on the south coast of São Miguel, immediately west of Vila Franca do Campo marina. Its volcanic-sand shore has urban access and views towards the Vila Franca islet. Proximity to the town centre, marina and food businesses makes it a practical bathing place for either a brief stop or a longer beach visit.

A bar, restaurant, support infrastructure and lifeguard supervision during the bathing season are available nearby. These services are seasonal, and business hours are not an opening time for the beach. Check flags and follow lifeguard instructions because sea conditions can change. Do not assume supervision outside the official season. Boats to the islet leave from the nearby marina, but that trip requires a ticket and follows its own access rules, entirely separate from use of this beach.
