Fonte do Buraco Viewpoint

Fonte do Buraco Viewpoint is on Rua Melo Nunes in the parish of Maia, above the north coast of São Miguel. Its elevated position looks over Maia's houses and fields, the Atlantic and, to the west, the Ponta do Cintrão headland. It is a straightforward place for reading the rural and coastal landscape close to the parish centre.

There are no formal opening hours or ticketing. The experience depends on visibility, which can change quickly with cloud, rain and fog. Park without obstructing local traffic, remain in prepared areas and respect farmland and private access. Proximity to cliffs requires care, particularly in strong wind or on wet ground. The viewpoint works well as a brief stop during a route through Maia; remove all waste and avoid unnecessary noise near neighbouring houses and land.
