Azores Airlines sale moves into applicant review phase
SATA Holding received eight expressions of interest in the sale of at least 75% of Azores Airlines.
SATA Holding has received eight expressions of interest in the privatisation process for SATA Internacional — Azores Airlines. The transaction covers the sale of at least 75% of the airline’s share capital.
Interested parties were required to submit an Integrity and Compliance Form, a statement of financial capacity and a declaration of effective interest by 6 September. SATA Holding will now assess whether the documentation meets the requirements set out in the tender specifications.
Entities that satisfy the participation requirements may then be invited to submit a non-binding proposal. The deadline for that stage is 21 September 2026.
The process matters to the Azores because it concerns the carrier linking the islands with mainland Portugal and other destinations. The selection of a new majority partner could shape the airline’s future structure and the regional discussion around air connectivity.
