Pico dos Bodes Viewpoint

Pico dos Bodes Viewpoint stands on high ground in the parish of Faial da Terra, at about 490 metres above sea level. Its position reveals a long stretch of São Miguel's south-eastern coast, including the Garajau and Lobeira headlands. In clear conditions, the view also reaches the Vila Franca do Campo islet and the landforms of the Povoação and Furnas calderas.

Road access ends at a parking area close to the observation point. Because this is an exposed upland location, cloud, wind and fog can reduce visibility quickly; drive carefully in such conditions and keep away from unprotected edges. The landscape itself has no opening hours, but visiting in daylight is safer. Preserve the quiet setting, take all waste away and respect any signs or temporary restrictions at the site.
