Refunds resume as technical issues persist on mobility platform

The Territorial Continuity Mechanism’s online platform has resumed accepting refund requests for tickets issued from 6 June 2026. The restart allows applications affected by the system’s adaptation to the rules now in force to move forward.

Technical limitations, however, remain on the platform. The issue was acknowledged in the Portuguese Government’s response to questions submitted by the Socialist Party in Parliament, indicating that adaptation work is still under way.

Requests linked to the eligible tickets are being handled without a maximum eligibility cap. This has a direct effect on Azores residents who use the support scheme for air travel between the archipelago and mainland Portugal.

CTT continues to provide alternative service and processing channels during the transition. These routes are intended to prevent problems with the digital service from stopping people from accessing refunds while the platform is adjusted.

For the Azores, reliable operation of the mechanism matters because air links are essential for work, education, healthcare and family travel. Resolving the remaining issues will be important in giving passengers who rely on mobility support more certainty.
