Running water, small waterfalls and the climb back up the sea cliff show how farming, milling and the coast once met in everyday life. Good footwear is useful, and the cliffside sections deserve care, especially after rain.

By the sea, Porto Pesca, listed by the parish council as local heritage and a visitor attraction, offers a simpler coastal pause. It is not a large resort-style viewpoint; its value is quieter, showing the working relationship between Fenais da Ajuda and the Atlantic. On clear days, the cliffs and open north-coast horizon give the place a spaciousness that contrasts with the busier parts of São Miguel.

The August festivities of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda reveal a community rhythm that buildings alone cannot show. Processions, music, family gatherings and festive evenings bring the streets to life and underline how religious and popular traditions still matter here.
