Õtaka

Õtaka is a Nikkei restaurant in central Ponta Delgada. Its cooking combines Japanese techniques and flavours with Peruvian influences, giving prominence to fish, seafood, rice, citrus, chilli and carefully prepared sauces. This is not a conventional sushi restaurant: the menu explores the culinary tradition developed by the Japanese community in Peru and adapts it to ingredients available in the Azores.

The selection may include ceviche, tiradito, raw-fish preparations, hot dishes and tasting menus, changing with season and availability. The restaurant serves dinner from Tuesday to Thursday and on Saturday, and is closed on Monday, Friday and Sunday. Advance booking is advisable because menus and service formats can change. Õtaka is on Rua Hintze Ribeiro, in a pedestrian area close to the historic centre of Ponta Delgada.
