Cerrado das Freiras Viewpoint

Cerrado das Freiras Viewpoint stands at about 514 metres above sea level on the road descending to Sete Cidades. The platform offers a close view over Sete Cidades Lake, including the basins known as the Blue and Green Lagoons, the Regos bridge and the agricultural and forested slopes of the volcanic massif.

Parking and access for visitors with reduced mobility are available. There is no ticketing or formal timetable, but the road can be busy and visibility changes quickly in fog and rain. Enter and leave the parking area carefully and never stop in the traffic lane. Remain behind barriers and avoid trampling vegetation outside visitor areas. Light changes through the day and alters the perceived lagoon colours; these colours mainly reflect light, depth and surroundings rather than a physical division of the water.
