Pedras do Galego Viewpoint

Pedras do Galego Viewpoint stands above Furnas at roughly 417 metres above sea level. It looks over the parish, the valley enclosed within the volcanic caldera and the surrounding mountains. Depending on vegetation and visibility, part of Furnas Lake and the land inside the caldera can also be seen.

Access is by a local road, and a ramp is provided to assist visitors with reduced mobility. Fog, rain and low cloud can hide the landscape completely within minutes, so the visit should be adjusted to the day's conditions. There are no opening hours or admission charge. Park without blocking the road, remain within prepared areas and take care on wet surfaces. The viewpoint offers a useful complement to Furnas's better-known lookouts by focusing on the valley and settlement as a whole.
