SATA lets passengers move trips outside the strike period
SATA passengers can reschedule trips from 21 October to 3 November at no extra cost under the conditions announced for the ground handling strike.
SATA Air Açores and Azores Airlines passengers booked to travel between 21 October and 3 November 2026 can change reservations without penalties or fare differences. New travel dates must fall outside that period, between 18 October and 10 November inclusive.
The measure responds to strike notice at SATA Handling. Stoppages are scheduled for 07:30–10:30 from 21 to 27 October and 16:00–19:00 from 28 October to 3 November, all in Azores local time.
The SITAVA and SINTAC unions oppose the Regional Government's intention to sell the entire ground handling business. The notice covers all company workplaces and stations; work is due to continue normally outside the announced hours.
SATA warns of possible delays and operational changes affecting inter-island flights and routes beyond the archipelago. It advises passengers to arrive earlier at the airport, check in digitally where possible and minimise checked baggage. Residents and visitors should follow updates from both airlines.
