SATA keeps inter-island fares unchanged after airport fee update

SATA Air Açores will absorb the updated airport fees applied to flights between the islands, with no announced increase in the amount paid by passengers.

The decision concerns the carrier’s inter-island operation, a network that is essential for the mobility of residents, workers and students across the archipelago.

By taking on this cost, the airline is preventing the fee change from producing an immediate rise in the price of travel between islands. The announced cost for users of these services therefore remains unchanged.

Domestic air connectivity plays a central role in a territory spread across nine islands, where regular travel often depends on aviation. Keeping fares stable is consequently relevant to local economic activity as well as to visitors travelling between islands.
