Corvo businesses face supply difficulties ahead of cargo service return
Fresh and frozen food shortages affect Corvo businesses. THOR B is expected back on 23 October after weeks of disruption to the island's cargo deliveries.
Shortages of fresh and frozen food are putting pressure on Corvo's shops and restaurants. On 12 October, business owner Mauro Ferreira warned that he could only provide meals until Wednesday, according to [RTP Açores]().
THOR B last called at the island on 21 September. Its return was scheduled for 23 October following maintenance outside the archipelago. Ferreira questioned the notice given to businesses; the responsible regional body said the scheduled interruption had been communicated.
Meanwhile, the Ariel passenger boat carried over 1,300 kilograms of essential goods on 13 October: over 400 on scheduled services and 900 on an additional crossing, the Regional Government said, as reported by [Açoriano Oriental/Lusa]().
A technical fault prevented a military flight carrying three tonnes the following day. Air and sea alternatives remained dependent on weather and sea conditions, limiting the replenishment of goods needed by businesses and residents in their daily lives.
