Azores report completion of PRR targets after €221 million increase
The Regional Government says it completed PRR milestones and targets, with €918 million mobilised in the Azores.
The Regional Government of the Azores says it has completed every milestone and target undertaken under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). Regional Government President José Manuel Bolieiro made the statement during an assessment of the programme, following months of rescheduling and pressure to deliver investments within their set deadlines.
According to the regional executive, the overall PRR amount connected to the Azores reached €918 million, €221 million above the initially projected €697 million. The figure combines €725 million in regional implementation with €193 million secured by Azorean businesses through national calls and mobilising agendas.
Bolieiro said the programme revisions were important because they enabled investments to be adjusted to economic and institutional circumstances while preserving the Region's commitments. He spoke during the handover of 12 ambulances and 70 transport monitors/defibrillators to Azorean volunteer fire associations.
The vehicles and equipment, acquired through the PRR, represent a total investment of €1.6 million and are intended to strengthen firefighters' emergency response. In an outermost region, the delivery of these funds can directly affect the capacity of public services, businesses and local organisations to carry out investments requiring greater scale and additional funding.
The announcement closes the milestones-and-targets stage, while the financial completion of projects and the lasting effects of the investments across the archipelago remain important to monitor. PRR funding adds to the other European funding instruments available to the Azores.
